Learn 2 Thrive  Parent & Camper Policy

Supervision  

I acknowledge and agree that Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp will only be supervising my child from the time they are signed into the program each day until the time they are signed out at the end of each day of the program, and that Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp  will not be supervising my child at any other time.  

Late or Failure to Pick Up Child  

I acknowledge that I must abide by the pick-up times outlined by Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp programs. Failure to pick up my child in a timely manner from the program and without notifying Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp staff as soon as possible of extenuating circumstances may result in the Ministry of Children and Family Development being contacted if I or my listed emergency contacts do not respond. This could also result in the removal of my child from the remainder of the Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp program without a refund.  

Illness Policy 

Parents are strongly encouraged to keep participants at home to prevent the spread of illness in the program. A participant who is too sick to participate in the program or play outside will need to be picked up by a parent/guardian or approved emergency contact on the child’s release list.  A participant must be free of these symptoms before returning to the program-acute cold, a fever (38.3 degrees), vomiting, infected skin or eyes, earaches, infections and infectious diseases.   

If a participant has lice, they will need to receive an effective lice treatment, and all lice and nits must be combed or picked out of their hair. They may return to the program once they are lice and nit-free. Spot checks by staff may be required as part of readmittance to the program, and daily checks of all children may be required some time to ensure the infestation does not spread. 

First Aid 

I give permission for any Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp staff member to administer first aid treatment on my child if first aid treatment is required. I understand that there will be member who has been trained in first aid and will only provide care as needed. I also understand that I will be responsible for any medical or other charges in connection with my child’s treatment.

Medication Policy  

Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp staff are not trained medical professionals and will not administer (dispense or apply) medication to participants. With parent/guardian written or verbal authorization staff may supervise and support participants to self-administer medication.   

Appropriate Behavior Expectations  

Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp wants our programs to be a safe and fun experience for everyone. To ensure that everyone can enjoy Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! programs, participants are expected to:   

• Respect: Be respectful to themselves, other participants, our staff and volunteers, 
• Listen: Actively listen to the staff, volunteers, and other participants; and  
• Attitude: Maintain a positive attitude and promote inclusivity throughout the program.  

The expectations at Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp programs work just like the expectations at your child’s school. If your child follows them, then they will be able to participate in all of our activities. If your child does not follow the expectations listed above, then there may be one or more of the following:  

• Contact of parent(s)/guardians(s);   
• Removal from Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp programs with or without monetary reimbursement.   

Inappropriate Behavior and Consequences    

There is absolutely NO tolerance of emotional, physical, verbal, or sexual abuse, bullying, or harassment at Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp programs. There is also no tolerance of fighting, physical violence, threat of physical violence, possession, use, or threat of use of weapons (including using materials as weapons), or any actions or behaviors that threaten the safety of the participant or others. Any of the actions above shall lead to the contact of parent(s)/guardian(s) and may lead to one or more of the following:  

• Removal of the participant from the program without monetary reimbursement;  

All decisions regarding the consequences of inappropriate behavior will be made by Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! in its sole discretion. 

I have read and understand the Appropriate Behavior Expectations and Inappropriate Behavior and Consequences sections set out above, and I confirm that I have discussed these rules and expectations with my child. I understand that these rules and expectations are for the safety of my child and all children attending the program.

Acknowledgement and Acceptance of Risk, and Consent  

 PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING 

 I have reviewed the description of the Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp program and feel that I have sufficiently informed myself about the nature of the program and the activities involved.  I acknowledge that there is some risk of injury involved in my child’s participation in the program, and I acknowledge and accept these risks. I acknowledge that there are risks, dangers, and hazards associated with my child’s participation in programs including, but not limited to: walking, running, playing games that involve objects, classroom activities, and hands-on learning activities.

 I acknowledge that Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp and our other partners take no responsibility for a registrant getting hurt including but not limited to: collisions with other participants or staff, impact with objects or equipment used in daily activities; sprains, strains, broken bones, slips, trips, falls, scrapes, cuts, burns, bruises, bites from animals or insects, allergic reactions, changes in surface conditions including classrooms, pavement, washrooms, fields and forests, consumption of food and drink, and theft. 

 In the event of an accident, injury or illness of the registrant, where immediate contact by Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School Camp with a designated contact cannot be made, I hereby authorize and grant Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp staff to secure proper medical treatment and authorize on the registrant’s behalf all medical procedures, including, without limitation, admission to an emergency unit, hospital and treatment therein, ordering of x-rays, test or treatment, injections, anesthesia and/or surgery, as deemed necessary by the attending medical professional(s). I agree not to hold Learn 2 Thrive: Ready, Set, School! Camp or other partners responsible for any cost or injury arising out of an emergency.
